Two well-appointed bedrooms each with Queen beds provide a restful stay while a versatile den offers additional space for relaxation or playing games. The shared bathroom offers a shower. The living and dining areas are open and airy , perfect for gathering with loved ones. The fully equipped kitchen boasts all the modern amenities needed to create delicious meals. Please note there is no dishwasher but the kitchen is very well stocked with dishware! Guests will love gathering around the crackling warmth of the cozy wood-burning stove, which is the main heat source or venturing outside to the enchanting fire pit to share stories under the starlit sky. A dedicated laundry room, complete with a washer and dryer, adds to your convenience, while enhanced speed Wi-Fi ensures seamless connectivity throughout the house. No garage but ample onsite parking for up to 3 vehicles. Westhaven Woods has an ideal location, for coastal Redwood adventures! A short walk or drive will lead you to the heart of Trinidad, where you can explore this quaint fishing village. Stock up on essentials at Murphy's Market & Deli, a full service grocery store. Seasoned travelers will be familiar with the mixed feelings of excitement and dread that the first visit to a vacation home can invoke. Can any vacation rental live up to high expectations? The pictures look great but there’s always a catch.... Right?
Not with this place. The Sandpiper is as adorably cute as its photos. Its furnishings are smart and comfortable - especially the big comfy bed. The views are awe inspiring. The easy access to the beach and the Moonstone grill is a huge bonus.
I now believe that a vacation rental can live up to my highest expectations.

This home exceeded all our expectations. The outdoor decks which overlooked the ocean were fabulous. We ate all our meals outside listening to the waves crash below. The home has EVERYTHING a couple would need and even more! We hated to leave this retreat! And the best feature of course was our lil cattle dog kiwi was welcome here too!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sandpiper once we found the house. Views were impressive! Location is convenient to beaches and Redwoods. Property was clean and well maintained, with a good supply of kitchen essentials.
I would not want to try to find the house in the dark! There are no street signs and the actual alignment of Rayipa Street is different from Google Maps. Would at least recommend change directions to something like "...sharp right turn and up the hill..."
Otherwise, once we found the house we had a very smooth visit!

- The view
- Quiet location
- Comfortable
- Good water pressure
- Kitchen well-stocked...more stuff than you probably need
- New dishwasher & oven
- Management company very responsive...thank you so much!!
- Easy parking
- Can hear the ocean with the windows open
- Pet friendly...we may bring our doggo next time
- Gas grill on deck...thanks for bringing a new tank!
- Plenty of towels and extra blankets
- Loved the swivel chairs in the living area
- Only two guests allowed but plenty of room for when our son & GF came for dinner

Cons:
- No screen door
- A bit of a musty smell...had to keep the windows open/cracked all the time
- No counter space in bathroom...small baskets provided were nice to have
- Furniture on lower deck in need of painting
- Carpet in need of a deep clean
- Wood stove not available for use...suspect d/t some sort of liability issue
- As mentioned in previous reviews, tough to find in the dark...fortunately we came during the day. When they say sharp right turn, they mean it.

Our vacation house had a well-stocked kitchen, a comfortable bed, and a view of Moonstone beach and the Little River that was spectacular. The staff was very attentive and fixed the little problems that came up promptly. The lower balcony needed some attention.

We recommend Sandpiper wholeheartedly! The house is absolutely perfect for the two of us and our beagle. The decks were gated so she had a great time exploring from top to bottom. The house itself is clean and well equipped, with a comfy couch and a large TV for evening relaxing. The bed is VERY comfortable. A short 5 minute walk to Moonstone Beach and a 10 minute drive up to Trinidad for delicious food at the Trinidad Bay Eatery. All in all a perfect getaway. We'll be back!

We had such a nice time in this comfortable little house with panoramic views of the ocean and coastline. Close enough to walk down to the beach for a stroll. Very close to Moonstone grill for a nice dinner, and a short drive into Trinidad for great food at The Eatery. A very cozy place that we hope to come back to.

Seasoned travelers will be familiar with the mixed feelings of excitement and dread that the first visit to a vacation home can invoke. Can any vacation rental live up to high expectations? The pictures look great but there’s always a catch.... Right?
Not with this place. The Sandpiper is as adorably cute as its photos. Its furnishings are smart and comfortable - especially the big comfy bed. The views are awe inspiring. The easy access to the beach and the Moonstone grill is a huge bonus.
I now believe that a vacation rental can live up to my highest expectations.

- Management company very responsive...thank you so much!!
- Easy parking
- Can hear the ocean with the windows open
- Pet friendly...we may bring our doggo next time
- Gas grill on deck...thanks for bringing a new tank!
- Plenty of towels and extra blankets
- Loved the swivel chairs in the living area
- Only two guests allowed but plenty of room for when our son & GF came for dinner

Cons:
- No screen door
- A bit of a musty smell...had to keep the windows open/cracked all the time
- No counter space in bathroom...small baskets provided were nice to have
- Furniture on lower deck in need of painting
- Carpet in need of a deep clean
- Wood stove not available for use...suspect d/t some sort of liability issue
- As mentioned in previous reviews, tough to find in the dark...fortunately we came during the day. When they say sharp right turn, they mean it.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sandpiper once we found the house. Views were impressive! Location is convenient to beaches and Redwoods. Property was clean and well maintained, with a good supply of kitchen essentials.
I would not want to try to find the house in the dark! There are no street signs and the actual alignment of Rayipa Street is different from Google Maps. Would at least recommend change directions to something like "...sharp right turn and up the hill..."
Otherwise, once we found the house we had a very smooth visit!

This home exceeded all our expectations. The outdoor decks which overlooked the ocean were fabulous. We ate all our meals outside listening to the waves crash below. The home has EVERYTHING a couple would need and even more! We hated to leave this retreat! And the best feature of course was our lil cattle dog kiwi was welcome here too!

Our vacation house had a well-stocked kitchen, a comfortable bed, and a view of Moonstone beach and the Little River that was spectacular. The staff was very attentive and fixed the little problems that came up promptly. The lower balcony needed some attention.

We recommend Sandpiper wholeheartedly! The house is absolutely perfect for the two of us and our beagle. The decks were gated so she had a great time exploring from top to bottom. The house itself is clean and well equipped, with a comfy couch and a large TV for evening relaxing. The bed is VERY comfortable. A short 5 minute walk to Moonstone Beach and a 10 minute drive up to Trinidad for delicious food at the Trinidad Bay Eatery. All in all a perfect getaway. We'll be back!

We had such a nice time in this comfortable little house with panoramic views of the ocean and coastline. Close enough to walk down to the beach for a stroll. Very close to Moonstone grill for a nice dinner, and a short drive into Trinidad for great food at The Eatery. A very cozy place that we hope to come back to.

We had a wonderful time at our Trinidad retreat cabin. While the cabin and guest house setting is good, the location and views are utterly amazing! We could not get enough of just hanging out on the deck, or in the hottub, and looking at that gorgeous view! Communication with property managers was prompt and helpful. The space felt just a little bit snug with 2 adults and 2 teens at times (only when we were all inside that is(,and the bathroom in the main house could use a little updating, but it goes with the charm of the house as well. We couldn’t be happier with our rental home and wanted to stay there longer. The beach access is easy and we had the beach almost to ourselves at times! Highly recommend!

We throughly enjoy our stay at the cabin. It was private, the view was great, the two bedrooms were comfortable. The deck with its view and the hot tub was was wonderful. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. I would stay here again in a second. Originally we were concerned the narrow road to the cabin would be an issue but it was totally not a problem. Loved this spot.

My husband and I had a wonderful 5 days at the Luffenholtz Surfside Cottage! It was a darling little place, perfect for a couple. It had everything you would need for a relaxing getaway! The view of the ocean was unbelievable, nicer even then the pics show. Plus it had a wraparound deck and wraparound windows so you had a view from every part of the cottage and property. It was very private, only other house was quite a ways away and you could barely see it. There was a road right below but there wasn’t much traffic on It and you couldn’t even see it because of a high hedge hiding it. So really the only sounds you heard were the sounds of the ocean and birds, so relaxing! There are some little bunnies living in the hedge, they would come out during the day to eat the grass and sun themselves, very cute! The town of Trinidad was very close by and easy to get to. They had some nice restaurants, a grocery store and a couple of touristy shops that sold some very nice jewelry, wind chimes and other items. We had a wonderful time and hope to return someday!

My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the Luffenholtz house was perfect for us. We had spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the town was just far enough away to provide some privacy from neighbors. We had delicious food and hikes all within a 10 minute drive. We also enjoyed tide pool exploring and beach combing. Will book again when we come back.

This property is peaceful and beautiful! It has everything you need to relax and enjoy the beautiful coast of Northern California. The property has a large deck with several areas for lounging, reading, and nature watching. It is easy walking distance to beach. The house is tastefully decorated with a small, well-appointed kitchen. I love to cook and did not find the kitchen lacking in any way. We will definitely return to this little coastal gem. The customer service from Trinidad Retreats is outstanding! We are repeat customers and have consistently received great service from them and enjoyed beautiful properties.

Firstly I would like to point out that the owners of this company are amazing! We had a family emergency pop up and were unable to stay on our original reservation date, the owners let us move our stay to a month later without any cost! We appreciated that so much! The cabin itself is perfect for two! It’s small but had all the amenities that we needed! The decks and outside area all had amazing views of the ocean which is only a 10 minute walk away! The cabin was very clean and kept. Just a short 3-5 min drive to the city center of Trinidad which has several great restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

What an absolutely beautiful view from two deck levels. Plenty of hot water on Sun. (even used the tub), but hot water Mon. morning was sporadic and we were not able to shower before we left; possibly ice in water line as temps drop very low during a stary Sun. night. This is the best place we've found in Trinidad. Hope to stay longer next time.

We loved this cabin. Views of the beautiful Trinidad coastline from every angle. Lovely soaking tub on the deck that you can use in complete privacy. Kitchen is well-stocked, nice appliances, well-cared for. Comfortable bed. The bathroom is a bit tight, but you can just pretend you are on a boat.

Bottom line: You will be glad you booked this!

Somehow this property offers both cozy intimacy and airy connection with nature. The house itself is slightly larger than a tiny house, but plenty roomy for a few people. The grounds include decks upon decks and four seating options outside. So... small house, roomy outside. With the ocean views, you’ll want to be outside as much as possible. You can see the water from the many windows in the home as well.

The views were even better than expected. We thought they even topped some of the views from the nearby state parks!

We appreciated the landscaping and container gardens as well. They add a lot of charm.

The interior is all-wood and feels like being inside a luxurious sailboat. I believe this is intentional, as the owners are avid sailors. It has tons of character and is decorated with lots of textiles and natural materials. The bed was VERY comfortable, with nice linens. Quality cookware is provided too.

The property is located on a scenic road with some gravel and one-way passages. That said, it’s about 10 min away from groceries and restaurants. You get the benefits of feeling totally isolated when you’re on the property, but being close to the town of Trinidad. This is also a good launching point for the Redwood parks. The landscaping hides the property from the road, further enhancing privacy, especially while using the outdoor tub.

The property was clean and had all the basic amenities.

Would absolutely stay here again if we return to the area.

Loved our entire stay. The grounds are well cared for and private. The cabin had everything we needed and the view is worth every penny. Proximity to groceries and a handful of restaurants was excellent (5 min drive) but the beach access (steep but manageable) and proximity to all the other beautiful beaches and forests was a real gift. Highly recommend.

What a perfect little cabin to relax and enjoy the views. The sunset comes straight through for the most spectacular show, and the sound of the ocean below was so peaceful. We had a wonderful time with our pup, way more secluded than I had thought, absolutely spectacular place:beautiful deck, great coffee, comfy bed, great communication, awesome hikes right outside the door. We will definitely try and come back, we didn't want to leave.

The cabin is clean, cozy and comfortable, but the decks, landscaping, and ocean views were really the stars. The experience of the soaking tub, with a glass of wine at sunset time, was extraordinary. Perfect location for exploring the coast and charming Trinidad.

We already can't wait to stay here again someday! This is a beautiful and well-stocked property with tons of outdoor space and stunning views. We loved the soaking tub and the fenced yard was perfect for our little dachshund. The only suggestion for management would be to ensure someone deep cleans & dusts every so often. There were so many cobwebs on the ceilings / walls.

My family got together to give my sister and her husband a 50th Anniversary honeymoon. We were greeted with fresh flowers and champagne - this was done by management when they found out about the anniversary-very sweet. The cabin was lovely and the view and location were exceptional. They did not leave the cabin the whole time they were there. They said it was way beyond their expectations. We all enjoyed a barbecue dinner on the gas grill. The weather, location,and accommodations were perfect. This will not be the last time we use Trinidad Retreats. Thank you for making this very special event even more special<3

From the moment we saw the photos of the deck and the tub (and the incredible scenery along Scenic Drive, long one of our favorite side roads), we knew this was the place for us. So, imagine our disappointment when PG&E reared its ugly head and turned the power off throughout Humboldt County on the weekend of our trip!
We were given the option of rescheduling but decided, heck, even PG&E couldn't turn off the sunshine or the ocean, so we went anyway.
Our hosts went above and beyond to make the stay as nice as possible. We had power the first night only; for the second day, they'd provided a small generator and some extension cords so we could have lights and make coffee and such.
Also, they were extremely helpful in giving us information on which markets and restaurants would still be open during the power outage.
And, honestly, we barely noticed. The cabin is very clean and cozy (extremely comfortable bed) and you can't beat the views or surroundings.
We will be back, again and again and again!

For a couple who needed to slip away for a couple of days, this was perfect! We loved exploring the beaches, watching the surfers (who told us this was some of the best surfing on the NW coast), beach-combing, playing tennis in downtown Trinidad and Trinidad fine-dining!

We had a wonderful time at our Trinidad retreat cabin. While the cabin and guest house setting is good, the location and views are utterly amazing! We could not get enough of just hanging out on the deck, or in the hottub, and looking at that gorgeous view! Communication with property managers was prompt and helpful. The space felt just a little bit snug with 2 adults and 2 teens at times (only when we were all inside that is(,and the bathroom in the main house could use a little updating, but it goes with the charm of the house as well. We couldn’t be happier with our rental home and wanted to stay there longer. The beach access is easy and we had the beach almost to ourselves at times! Highly recommend!

We throughly enjoy our stay at the cabin. It was private, the view was great, the two bedrooms were comfortable. The deck with its view and the hot tub was was wonderful. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. I would stay here again in a second. Originally we were concerned the narrow road to the cabin would be an issue but it was totally not a problem. Loved this spot.

This property is peaceful and beautiful! It has everything you need to relax and enjoy the beautiful coast of Northern California. The property has a large deck with several areas for lounging, reading, and nature watching. It is easy walking distance to beach. The house is tastefully decorated with a small, well-appointed kitchen. I love to cook and did not find the kitchen lacking in any way. We will definitely return to this little coastal gem. The customer service from Trinidad Retreats is outstanding! We are repeat customers and have consistently received great service from them and enjoyed beautiful properties.

My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the Luffenholtz house was perfect for us. We had spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the town was just far enough away to provide some privacy from neighbors. We had delicious food and hikes all within a 10 minute drive. We also enjoyed tide pool exploring and beach combing. Will book again when we come back.

View is Amazing & we could take our dog. Property has issues that need to be resolved. We shared our concerns with Property Manager in hope that owner does some repairs/updating. Rate is pricey for what you get in our opinion.

My husband and I had a wonderful 5 days at the Luffenholtz Surfside Cottage! It was a darling little place, perfect for a couple. It had everything you would need for a relaxing getaway! The view of the ocean was unbelievable, nicer even then the pics show. Plus it had a wraparound deck and wraparound windows so you had a view from every part of the cottage and property. It was very private, only other house was quite a ways away and you could barely see it. There was a road right below but there wasn’t much traffic on It and you couldn’t even see it because of a high hedge hiding it. So really the only sounds you heard were the sounds of the ocean and birds, so relaxing! There are some little bunnies living in the hedge, they would come out during the day to eat the grass and sun themselves, very cute! The town of Trinidad was very close by and easy to get to. They had some nice restaurants, a grocery store and a couple of touristy shops that sold some very nice jewelry, wind chimes and other items. We had a wonderful time and hope to return someday!

We already can't wait to stay here again someday! This is a beautiful and well-stocked property with tons of outdoor space and stunning views. We loved the soaking tub and the fenced yard was perfect for our little dachshund. The only suggestion for management would be to ensure someone deep cleans & dusts every so often. There were so many cobwebs on the ceilings / walls.

Loved our entire stay. The grounds are well cared for and private. The cabin had everything we needed and the view is worth every penny. Proximity to groceries and a handful of restaurants was excellent (5 min drive) but the beach access (steep but manageable) and proximity to all the other beautiful beaches and forests was a real gift. Highly recommend.

What a perfect little cabin to relax and enjoy the views. The sunset comes straight through for the most spectacular show, and the sound of the ocean below was so peaceful. We had a wonderful time with our pup, way more secluded than I had thought, absolutely spectacular place:beautiful deck, great coffee, comfy bed, great communication, awesome hikes right outside the door. We will definitely try and come back, we didn't want to leave.

Bottom line: You will be glad you booked this!

Somehow this property offers both cozy intimacy and airy connection with nature. The house itself is slightly larger than a tiny house, but plenty roomy for a few people. The grounds include decks upon decks and four seating options outside. So... small house, roomy outside. With the ocean views, you’ll want to be outside as much as possible. You can see the water from the many windows in the home as well.

The views were even better than expected. We thought they even topped some of the views from the nearby state parks!

We appreciated the landscaping and container gardens as well. They add a lot of charm.

The interior is all-wood and feels like being inside a luxurious sailboat. I believe this is intentional, as the owners are avid sailors. It has tons of character and is decorated with lots of textiles and natural materials. The bed was VERY comfortable, with nice linens. Quality cookware is provided too.

The property is located on a scenic road with some gravel and one-way passages. That said, it’s about 10 min away from groceries and restaurants. You get the benefits of feeling totally isolated when you’re on the property, but being close to the town of Trinidad. This is also a good launching point for the Redwood parks. The landscaping hides the property from the road, further enhancing privacy, especially while using the outdoor tub.

The property was clean and had all the basic amenities.

Would absolutely stay here again if we return to the area.

We loved this cabin. Views of the beautiful Trinidad coastline from every angle. Lovely soaking tub on the deck that you can use in complete privacy. Kitchen is well-stocked, nice appliances, well-cared for. Comfortable bed. The bathroom is a bit tight, but you can just pretend you are on a boat.

What an absolutely beautiful view from two deck levels. Plenty of hot water on Sun. (even used the tub), but hot water Mon. morning was sporadic and we were not able to shower before we left; possibly ice in water line as temps drop very low during a stary Sun. night. This is the best place we've found in Trinidad. Hope to stay longer next time.

Firstly I would like to point out that the owners of this company are amazing! We had a family emergency pop up and were unable to stay on our original reservation date, the owners let us move our stay to a month later without any cost! We appreciated that so much! The cabin itself is perfect for two! It’s small but had all the amenities that we needed! The decks and outside area all had amazing views of the ocean which is only a 10 minute walk away! The cabin was very clean and kept. Just a short 3-5 min drive to the city center of Trinidad which has several great restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Overall, this place was a great place to stay.

Pros: Gorgeous Views, private, fenced in yard for dogs, close to town, and cozy.

Cons: Bathroom smelled rotten (even with the window cracked), hard to find at night, lights were not left on during arrival (tripped to the property)

This is rural location and the cabin has a septic system that we were having troubles with around the time of your stay, We have since resolved that issue. For a couple who needed to slip away for a couple of days, this was perfect! We loved exploring the beaches, watching the surfers (who told us this was some of the best surfing on the NW coast), beach-combing, playing tennis in downtown Trinidad and Trinidad fine-dining!

From the moment we saw the photos of the deck and the tub (and the incredible scenery along Scenic Drive, long one of our favorite side roads), we knew this was the place for us. So, imagine our disappointment when PG&E reared its ugly head and turned the power off throughout Humboldt County on the weekend of our trip!
We were given the option of rescheduling but decided, heck, even PG&E couldn't turn off the sunshine or the ocean, so we went anyway.
Our hosts went above and beyond to make the stay as nice as possible. We had power the first night only; for the second day, they'd provided a small generator and some extension cords so we could have lights and make coffee and such.
Also, they were extremely helpful in giving us information on which markets and restaurants would still be open during the power outage.
And, honestly, we barely noticed. The cabin is very clean and cozy (extremely comfortable bed) and you can't beat the views or surroundings.
We will be back, again and again and again!

My family got together to give my sister and her husband a 50th Anniversary honeymoon. We were greeted with fresh flowers and champagne - this was done by management when they found out about the anniversary-very sweet. The cabin was lovely and the view and location were exceptional. They did not leave the cabin the whole time they were there. They said it was way beyond their expectations. We all enjoyed a barbecue dinner on the gas grill. The weather, location,and accommodations were perfect. This will not be the last time we use Trinidad Retreats. Thank you for making this very special event even more special<3
