The location is amazing, the view, the grass lawn, the large trees. Its all stunning. The home is well kept and very comfortable. Beds were all Kings size spoiled my kids and all the towels felt amazing. Thank you for letting us use your amazing home and location. We will have to try again in the summer months. My two girlfriends and I had a three night stay at this amazing property. It's a huge house so plenty of room for privacy. It rained two of the 3 days but so cozy inside with a clear view of the ocean. As it turns out we were the first guests to rent it and the fireplace wasn't operable yet. That's a small thing compared to all the positives - highly recommend this beautiful house.

The interior is characterized by an open-concept chef’s kitchen and living area with a fireplace, cathedral ceilings, and expansive bay windows that offer exhilarating views of the Pacific Ocean. Delight in a tranquil 3,000 gallon Koi pond complemented by a cascading waterfall as you begin to discover all of the amenities that Emerald Phoenix Estate has to offer. A gourmet kitchen, piano, prestigious library, wood burning fireplace, sauna, hot tub, a large game room and flourishing grounds to explore. The owner's personal collection of antiques and relics add a quintessential flair to the decor. The estate also showcases local art & photography some of which are available for purchase. The estate caretaker and lovely owner, Daniel resides onsite. He welcomes guests to explore the landscaped pastures that lead to extraordinary views of the Pacific, to wander across the 18 acres and to soak up the magic of the California coastline. He is happy to take you on a guided tour of the property or to give you all the space and privacy you desire. Outdoor activities include badminton, croquet, barbecue, forest bathing, dining, and ocean gazing. Emerald Phoenix is a natural habitat for a diverse array of plants and animals native to California. You are likely to encounter foxes, deer, ravens, banana slugs (our favorite) and dragonflies on the estate. Explore and discover a wide array of evergreen trees including Redwood, Douglas Fir and Cypress, flocks of shore birds, as well as an incredible variety of ferns and the magical Trillium flower that thrive here in the largest temperate rainforest in the world. Please note this home does not have any direct beach access. It is located on a bluff 200 ft. above the ocean. The trailhead to Secret Beach is a five minute walk down Stagecoach Rd. College Cove is less than 1 mile away and a quick 3 mile drive will take you to Trinidad State Beach. The seaside town of Trinidad is less than two miles away. Here you can find Murphy's Market, Beachcomber Cafe, Headie's Pizza, Lighthouse Grill, The Trinidad Eatery, Seascape Restaurant and Pier, Katy's Smokehouse, Moonstone Winery Tasting Room, Trinidad Museum, Trinidad Art Gallery, Trinidad Trading Post & Sea Around Us. This home is ideally located to explore all there is to see and do around Trinidad. We drove both north and south to hike in State Parks and the Redwood National Park. Also, explored numerous trails along the Pacific Ocean.
We are a family of four - two grown children. Plenty of space for all of us. Very clean home with comfortable beds. We cooked and ate in a couple of nights - kitchen is perfectly adequate and there's a nice grill on the deck.
House is less than a mile from Trinidad - coastal village with a good grocery store, Murphy's. Definitely recommend Larrupin Cafe - sophisticated menu in a charming environment. And it's right up at the top of the street! Our sons also enjoyed Headies Pizza and Pour.
My favorite part of the house is called The Cabin which is a separate building that houses a library, flat-screen TV, cozy seating, fireplace, and a game table. Plus, the view can't be beat! Thoroughly savored my time there reading a book and never got tired of the view.
Excellent ommunications and customer service with property manager. Would definitely return.

Our primary reason for booking this cabin and location was to tour portions of the Redwood National and State Parks. We loved the location of the cabin right at the edge of the ocean and the town of Trinidad was a very unexpected pleasure. The cabin itself, with the separate private studio was a great getaway and very relaxing. It was very well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Its location was very quiet and peaceful. Directions were great and everything was as described by the host. The town provided several dining options across the spectrum and was very welcoming. We would definitely recommend this location and cabin. Thanks!

We loved our stay at the Abalone Cabin. The clifftop property has stunning views from the yard and the house (kitchen, dining room, main bedroom upstairs, and from the separate living room/library building with its large glass windows) and is very private. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We used the cottage as our base as we explored parks and trails in the area (by car). A lovely spot that we highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at the Abalone Cabin in Trinidad, CA. The cabin was clean, well‐maintained, and fully stocked with all the amenities we could possibly need. The beds were incredibly comfortable — we all slept so well after long days exploring! The views were absolutely breathtaking: we watched whales offshore and spotted bald eagles every evening from the patio.

This was our landing spot for visiting Redwood National Park and the wooddrift beaches nearby. The space was a great fit for our group of six and felt cozy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. This ‘Abalone’ home has a beautiful view from the fenced off cliff in the front yard. It was wonderful to hear the waves crashing on the shore below and it was warm enough, even in late Sept., to enjoy our breakfast outside. The home is dated but clean and very useable. The beds were very comfortable too. We spent a lot of time in the ”CABIN” building watching movies and completing a puzzle after our day trips. I must note the heater worked well in there but was very noisy. The electric fireplace was in pieces and did not work at all which was a disappointment. The refrigerator freezer was overcome with ice and frost but management seemed uninterested. Overall , we enjoyed our relaxing stay.

The cabin was an excellent location to visit the Redwoods and do some additional nearby hiking. The views are awesome! The cabin is spotless and has everything you need. We shoped at the local grocer, Murphys to make breakfast and dinner. We also enjoyed dinner at Larrupin Cafe. I would highly recommend this cabin for some outdoor beauty and enjoyment.

The home was perfect. Very well maintained and clean like new. The great room library is amazing! Large grassy area over looking the most beautiful beach and a canopy of redwoods - Just amazing. Management was very attentive with a few questions I had and a small issue with cable was immediately taken care of. Always had a great experience with Trinidad Retreats. The cabin was as described, very clean, private, and had everything we needed for our stay. We explored the nearby beaches and the redwood forests. There was a great guidebook in the cabin to help us make plans. We spent evenings on the patio watching the sunset. The nearby Larrupin Cafe was fantastic (though on the pricey side). This home is ideally located to explore all there is to see and do around Trinidad. We drove both north and south to hike in State Parks and the Redwood National Park. Also, explored numerous trails along the Pacific Ocean.
We are a family of four - two grown children. Plenty of space for all of us. Very clean home with comfortable beds. We cooked and ate in a couple of nights - kitchen is perfectly adequate and there's a nice grill on the deck.
House is less than a mile from Trinidad - coastal village with a good grocery store, Murphy's. Definitely recommend Larrupin Cafe - sophisticated menu in a charming environment. And it's right up at the top of the street! Our sons also enjoyed Headies Pizza and Pour.
My favorite part of the house is called The Cabin which is a separate building that houses a library, flat-screen TV, cozy seating, fireplace, and a game table. Plus, the view can't be beat! Thoroughly savored my time there reading a book and never got tired of the view.
Excellent ommunications and customer service with property manager. Would definitely return.

Our primary reason for booking this cabin and location was to tour portions of the Redwood National and State Parks. We loved the location of the cabin right at the edge of the ocean and the town of Trinidad was a very unexpected pleasure. The cabin itself, with the separate private studio was a great getaway and very relaxing. It was very well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Its location was very quiet and peaceful. Directions were great and everything was as described by the host. The town provided several dining options across the spectrum and was very welcoming. We would definitely recommend this location and cabin. Thanks!

Absolutely beautiful property and such a tasteful and sweet home. We enjoyed playing games and reading by the fire in the cabin after a long day of hiking in the redwoods. Beds are so comfortable and it’s a great place to relax and watch the ocean. Loved it!

We loved our stay at the Abalone Cabin. The clifftop property has stunning views from the yard and the house (kitchen, dining room, main bedroom upstairs, and from the separate living room/library building with its large glass windows) and is very private. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We used the cottage as our base as we explored parks and trails in the area (by car). A lovely spot that we highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at the Abalone Cabin in Trinidad, CA. The cabin was clean, well‐maintained, and fully stocked with all the amenities we could possibly need. The beds were incredibly comfortable — we all slept so well after long days exploring! The views were absolutely breathtaking: we watched whales offshore and spotted bald eagles every evening from the patio.

This was our landing spot for visiting Redwood National Park and the wooddrift beaches nearby. The space was a great fit for our group of six and felt cozy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The listing clearly communicated that only one bathroom had a shower, so it was easy to plan around, and it worked out just fine for our group.

We highly recommend the Abalone Cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful, serene, and convenient spot to experience the best of the North Coast!

Awesome location, unforgettable views, comfortable, quiet, inspiring. Even through the heavy rain/wind storms that spanned 8 days out of the 10-day stay, the power stayed on, and it was very comfy inside. This place is a real gem, and the management is superior. We'll be back.

We were impressed with the ample room for our 3-night stay in Trinidad. The view of the Pacific was inspiring (while foggy all 3 days, it gave an atmospheric brooding quality). The location was a short drive to enjoyable food options and beaches, and an hour from multiple redwood groves. Highly recommended!

This location can’t be beat! We were so thrilled with the location, the sweeping views of the coast, the quaint, cozy welcoming home and surprised to find a separate cabin filled with books, a fireplace and views of the ocean. This ‘Abalone’ home has a beautiful view from the fenced off cliff in the front yard. It was wonderful to hear the waves crashing on the shore below and it was warm enough, even in late Sept., to enjoy our breakfast outside. The home is dated but clean and very useable. The beds were very comfortable too. We spent a lot of time in the ”CABIN” building watching movies and completing a puzzle after our day trips. I must note the heater worked well in there but was very noisy. The electric fireplace was in pieces and did not work at all which was a disappointment. The refrigerator freezer was overcome with ice and frost but management seemed uninterested. Overall , we enjoyed our relaxing stay.

The cabin was an excellent location to visit the Redwoods and do some additional nearby hiking. The views are awesome! The cabin is spotless and has everything you need. We shoped at the local grocer, Murphys to make breakfast and dinner. We also enjoyed dinner at Larrupin Cafe. I would highly recommend this cabin for some outdoor beauty and enjoyment.

The home was perfect. Very well maintained and clean like new. The great room library is amazing! Large grassy area over looking the most beautiful beach and a canopy of redwoods - Just amazing. Management was very attentive with a few questions I had and a small issue with cable was immediately taken care of. Always had a great experience with Trinidad Retreats. Thank you, we'll be back every year. 15 minutes to the airport, 20 to Eureka and 5 to Trinidad. Great restaurants and shopping!

The cabin was as described, very clean, private, and had everything we needed for our stay. We explored the nearby beaches and the redwood forests. There was a great guidebook in the cabin to help us make plans. We spent evenings on the patio watching the sunset. The nearby Larrupin Cafe was fantastic (though on the pricey side). The property manager went above and beyond to help us with an issue we had on our way out of town - exceptionally helpful! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

We cannot wait to return to the Sanctuary House! The home is beautiful, quiet, modern and well-supplied; exactly as described. We could have stared at the view all day, but managed to peel ourselves away long enough to enjoy the area and nearby redwood forests, which are some of our favorite in northern California. Of course, I'd prefer this house and area remain a well-kept secret, but I cannot recommend either enough. And the reservation and check-in / check-out process was a breeze ... a great experience overall. Thanks!

This is our favorite vacation rental and not just because Trinidad is a wonderful destination. The house is beautifully constructed, maintained and comfortable it truly can't be beat. This house is so interesting and so well designed for living. You can see the ocean from the entire back of the house, and big sliding doors open to the patios, so the breeze can come in all the time. There are several spots around the property that are perfect for sitting and reflecting on the surrounding beauty. The house is very clean and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is a delight - we stayed in for all of our dinners because it was so easy to prepare meals with all of the cookware, utensils, dishes, spices, etc, and we thought it a shame to give up the outstanding setting for an enclosed restaurant! The property manager was easy to work with and quick to respond to our questions. We just loved our entire stay and we didn't want to leave! Thank you for sharing this perfect refuge!

This house was a splurge, so lucky to share it with good friends. Thick fog every day from October 4-9, 2022. The thing about fog is it makes you slow down which is a true gift. We stayed 5 nights and ate wonderful meals at the house for four of them and enjoyed Larrupin on our last night.

We booked this home to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday with friends and family! We've been guests in this home several times but it was our turn to host! What a great place to be for any occasion! Tried to get my girlfriend out of the kitchen (she's a caterer) but she says this is her favorite place to cook! Wish we could have stayed longer! The house was exactly as pictured and there was plenty of space for my family inside and outside the home. The house was well stocked and the outside fire ring was set up with wood so all we had to do was light it! It was perfect for roasting marshmallows. We had beautiful weather and spectacular ocean views!
I contacted Trinidad Retreats management company for a question and they promptly responded with an answer. They provided great service!

SANCTUARY HOUSE.....A very nice four-day stay in March 2022. After minimal travel for two years , we were happy to get away to a party of the coast we had never visited , but had driven through on a couple of occasions. And Sanctuary House was the perfect introduction to Trinidad! I t is as good as it looks in the photos , a spectacular contemporary home on an equally spectacular cliff with wide ocean and rocky island/beach views. Scoping whales from the deck was a particular treat....The house appears very well maintained and equipped. We were only two of us , the house could easily accomodate six or more in comfort , with enough room for quiet privacy when needed. Location is perfect....out of Trinidads but just a few minutes from the '' town'' and harbor , and our favourite breakfast spot , Seascape Restaurant. If you are not hungry , don't go !!! Delightful people are a feature of Trinidad , be it wait staff , store owners , or locals on the dock fishing quietly for their lunch. And we definitely will be back for crab season ! It is tough to find anything to criticise about Sanctuary House , but here goes ....the oven needed cleaning [ altho' we had no intention of using it!] and there was only one extra trash bag for the kitchen waste bin. SO , scarcely complaints at all !!! Beds were comfortable [ we only tried one !] and shower was great , once the hot water found its way there. We plan to return , it is a great house and wonderful location, and very accurately portrayed in the descriptions on line. And Trinidad Retreats are very pleasant and easy to deal with. Sanctuary House is worth the price tag , and so is Trinidad. !!! Peter and Marian

We had an amazing time celebrating my wife's birthday week at Sanctuary House. The house is located in one of our favorite areas in Trinidad just above Baker Beach. Nestled in between large Sequoias and beautifully landscaped grounds the home has sweeping southwestern views of the Pacific and is a architects dream. We were also pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the house was with cookware, linens, firewood and even back up propane tanks for the grill. We had such a magical time and will definitely be back!

My daughter and I came to Trinidad to see the Redwoods, something we’ve wanted to do together for a long time. The property was amazingly beautiful! The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. Clean and quite luxurious. Great sitting areas inside and out to enjoy the glorious landscapes and each other’s company. We loved it, and of course Trinidad is a lovely little village with great places to eat, and your are so close to the Redwoods!

This house has incredible views and was perfect for our group of 3 couples. We loved that we each had our own bedroom suite with private bath and an outdoor balcony or patio with ocean view. The kitchen is fully stocked so enjoyed dining in.

"Sanctuary" aptly describes this beautiful setting and home.
The architect and owners elegantly placed the home to maximize the view and privacy.
The house becomes one with nature and the outdoors.
It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to experience this sanctuary.

Although we had no questions or problems to call Trinidad Retreats about they were very professional and friendly to speak with prior to our stay. We will definitely use Trinidad Retreats in the future.

This rental beat all expectations. The architecture of home was outstanding and one of a kind. The location of this rental was unparalleled ..simply amazing and breathtaking! The horseshoes were an added bonus as well . The only thing I can say we were not happy w is that the hot tub wasn’t working at the time but we did get compensated for it so that was good .if you are coming w family it is fully loaded w cook wear and ready to cook up anything you’d like. I am planning to rent again in spring , it was that great of a spot !

The sanctuary house is a beautiful and comfortable home with amazing views all around. I really loved the fog rolling in and covering the several redwood trees on property. On our vacation was a three year old, this property is good for kids but it requires extra attention due to the beautiful artwork and artifacts in the home. We cooked all but one of our meals there and the kitchen and grill were great. I highly recommend this rental and other rentals from Trinidad retreats, I’ve booked with them before and I like them the best out of the others I’ve used in the past.

This house is a dream and I can't wait to go back!
It has to be the best coastal home in Humboldt County. The architecture was amazing and so were the views! The location was walking distance to beach access and a 4 minute drive to amenities. The yard was well maintained and the house clean. The owners provided great customer service and went the extra mile to make sure our visit was as comfortable as possible. I recommend this beautiful estate for anyone thinking of staying here. You will not be disappointed! Make sure to take in the sunset from the yard, BBQ on the patio or cook in the gourmet kitchen and then soak in the hot tub while enjoying the stars and surf. If you don't feel like cooking, head to Larrupin Cafe for the best food in Trinidad. Other great spots to visit are Moonstone Crossing for wine tasting and Trinidad Spa for relaxation. This place will steal your heart.

The house was beautiful and met all the needs of our group. It is well appointed which made cooking easy. The location is excellent. Perfect access to Trinidad, local beaches, and the Redwoods. We will be back.

You can’t go wrong with this house. Kitchen provided everything we needed, beds comfortable, deck, patio space was an amazing place to enjoy the gorgeous view and the hot tub was very fun to use.

We cannot wait to return to the Sanctuary House! The home is beautiful, quiet, modern and well-supplied; exactly as described. We could have stared at the view all day, but managed to peel ourselves away long enough to enjoy the area and nearby redwood forests, which are some of our favorite in northern California. Of course, I'd prefer this house and area remain a well-kept secret, but I cannot recommend either enough. And the reservation and check-in / check-out process was a breeze ... a great experience overall. Thanks!

This is our favorite vacation rental and not just because Trinidad is a wonderful destination. The house is beautifully constructed, maintained and comfortable it truly can't be beat. This house is so interesting and so well designed for living. You can see the ocean from the entire back of the house, and big sliding doors open to the patios, so the breeze can come in all the time. There are several spots around the property that are perfect for sitting and reflecting on the surrounding beauty. The house is very clean and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is a delight - we stayed in for all of our dinners because it was so easy to prepare meals with all of the cookware, utensils, dishes, spices, etc, and we thought it a shame to give up the outstanding setting for an enclosed restaurant! The property manager was easy to work with and quick to respond to our questions. We just loved our entire stay and we didn't want to leave! Thank you for sharing this perfect refuge!

This house was a splurge, so lucky to share it with good friends. Thick fog every day from October 4-9, 2022. The thing about fog is it makes you slow down which is a true gift. We stayed 5 nights and ate wonderful meals at the house for four of them and enjoyed Larrupin on our last night.

The house was exactly as pictured and there was plenty of space for my family inside and outside the home. The house was well stocked and the outside fire ring was set up with wood so all we had to do was light it! It was perfect for roasting marshmallows. We had beautiful weather and spectacular ocean views!
I contacted Trinidad Retreats management company for a question and they promptly responded with an answer. They provided great service!

SANCTUARY HOUSE.....A very nice four-day stay in March 2022. After minimal travel for two years , we were happy to get away to a party of the coast we had never visited , but had driven through on a couple of occasions. And Sanctuary House was the perfect introduction to Trinidad! I t is as good as it looks in the photos , a spectacular contemporary home on an equally spectacular cliff with wide ocean and rocky island/beach views. Scoping whales from the deck was a particular treat....The house appears very well maintained and equipped. We were only two of us , the house could easily accomodate six or more in comfort , with enough room for quiet privacy when needed. Location is perfect....out of Trinidads but just a few minutes from the '' town'' and harbor , and our favourite breakfast spot , Seascape Restaurant. If you are not hungry , don't go !!! Delightful people are a feature of Trinidad , be it wait staff , store owners , or locals on the dock fishing quietly for their lunch. And we definitely will be back for crab season ! It is tough to find anything to criticise about Sanctuary House , but here goes ....the oven needed cleaning [ altho' we had no intention of using it!] and there was only one extra trash bag for the kitchen waste bin. SO , scarcely complaints at all !!! Beds were comfortable [ we only tried one !] and shower was great , once the hot water found its way there. We plan to return , it is a great house and wonderful location, and very accurately portrayed in the descriptions on line. And Trinidad Retreats are very pleasant and easy to deal with. Sanctuary House is worth the price tag , and so is Trinidad. !!! Peter and Marian

We had an amazing time celebrating my wife's birthday week at Sanctuary House. The house is located in one of our favorite areas in Trinidad just above Baker Beach. Nestled in between large Sequoias and beautifully landscaped grounds the home has sweeping southwestern views of the Pacific and is a architects dream. We were also pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the house was with cookware, linens, firewood and even back up propane tanks for the grill. We had such a magical time and will definitely be back!

My daughter and I came to Trinidad to see the Redwoods, something we’ve wanted to do together for a long time. The property was amazingly beautiful! The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. Clean and quite luxurious. Great sitting areas inside and out to enjoy the glorious landscapes and each other’s company. We loved it, and of course Trinidad is a lovely little village with great places to eat, and your are so close to the Redwoods!

This house has incredible views and was perfect for our group of 3 couples. We loved that we each had our own bedroom suite with private bath and an outdoor balcony or patio with ocean view. The kitchen is fully stocked so enjoyed dining in.
Also so close to grocery store, restaurants, & redwoods.

"Sanctuary" aptly describes this beautiful setting and home.
The architect and owners elegantly placed the home to maximize the view and privacy.
The house becomes one with nature and the outdoors.
It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to experience this sanctuary.

Although we had no questions or problems to call Trinidad Retreats about they were very professional and friendly to speak with prior to our stay. We will definitely use Trinidad Retreats in the future.

This rental beat all expectations. The architecture of home was outstanding and one of a kind. The location of this rental was unparalleled ..simply amazing and breathtaking! The horseshoes were an added bonus as well . The only thing I can say we were not happy w is that the hot tub wasn’t working at the time but we did get compensated for it so that was good .if you are coming w family it is fully loaded w cook wear and ready to cook up anything you’d like. I am planning to rent again in spring , it was that great of a spot !

The sanctuary house is a beautiful and comfortable home with amazing views all around. I really loved the fog rolling in and covering the several redwood trees on property. On our vacation was a three year old, this property is good for kids but it requires extra attention due to the beautiful artwork and artifacts in the home. We cooked all but one of our meals there and the kitchen and grill were great. I highly recommend this rental and other rentals from Trinidad retreats, I’ve booked with them before and I like them the best out of the others I’ve used in the past.

Pictures and description right on. 30 minute drive up to redwood national for hiking. Amazing sunsets from the swings overlooking the ocean and the hot tub. Loved the hospitality of the hosts - very responsive. The interior of the house is amazing and very zen / relaxing and very private.

This house is a dream and I can't wait to go back!
It has to be the best coastal home in Humboldt County. The architecture was amazing and so were the views! The location was walking distance to beach access and a 4 minute drive to amenities. The yard was well maintained and the house clean. The owners provided great customer service and went the extra mile to make sure our visit was as comfortable as possible. I recommend this beautiful estate for anyone thinking of staying here. You will not be disappointed! Make sure to take in the sunset from the yard, BBQ on the patio or cook in the gourmet kitchen and then soak in the hot tub while enjoying the stars and surf. If you don't feel like cooking, head to Larrupin Cafe for the best food in Trinidad. Other great spots to visit are Moonstone Crossing for wine tasting and Trinidad Spa for relaxation. This place will steal your heart.
